Welcome! I know how hard it is to decide to be vulnerable and seek help for the struggles you're facing in life. Take your time to look around the website, get to know me a little bit. I believe the therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of the healing process. Therapy is a collaborative process, my job is not to tell you exactly what to do and why what you've been doing is wrong, but to walk along side you to figure out what is and is not effective for you in order to help you get unstuck and moving toward your values again.
Feel free to send me a message with any questions you may have, no obligation. Very briefly, my area's of expertise are in trauma treatment, eating disorder treatment, and psychological assessment. I frequently use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) with clients. I also work from a primarily interpersonal, relational, and psychodynamic framework. I do both long-term and short-term work, and mold my approach based on my client's needs and wants. (see the Approach to Therapy tab)
On a personal note: I have a chocolate covered fruit and coffee obsession. I take pub trivia nights way too seriously. And I love running and I competed in cross country and track in college
****please note Dr. Michaels is presently only accepting outpatient therapy or assessment clients through Centennial Counseling Center in Saint Charles,IL where she is completing her Post-Doctoral Fellowship.****
